College journalist

Nolan Rogalski

Welcome to my portfolio! I'm Nolan, a 19-year-old sophomore pursuing a journalism major, Spanish minor and sports management certificate at the University of Maryland, College Park. I have gotten nearly all of my journalistic opportunities thus far in sports, but I aim to branch out into a wider array of topics before graduating to round out my learning experience. Here, I've compiled some of my favorite clips through my freshman year at Maryland. Any comments or inquiries can be directed to any of the contact information below.

Missy Meharg isn't finished.

Covering Maryland field hockey during my first semester of school was an incredible experience. For my first-ever feature, I was able to sit down with head coach Missy Meharg to discuss all things past, present and future, including a previously unreported story of how she nearly left the sport a decade ago.

'To Xfinity and beyond': Maryland men’s basketball fans moving forward with Buzz Williams

When Buzz Williams was hired as the next head coach of Maryland men's basketball, I knew I wanted to get a story on it. I wasn't covering the team at the time, though, so I showed up and turned to the community, interviewing several Maryland fans that attended Williams' opening press conference. With that, I put together a fun freelance piece that was quickly picked up by the Diamondback.

Logan McNaney continues the legacy of No. 1 for Maryland men's lacrosse

After my work with field hockey, I was asked to return and be the beat reporter for men's lacrosse, Maryland's flagship spring sport. While there, I had the chance to interview several players and write more features. This conversation stood out to me because of the intertwining stories of the player and the jersey, both of which took winding paths before coming together ahead of the 2025 season.

Previewing "The Rivalry" live

While reporting on men's lacrosse, I was asked to come onto the student-produced Maryland sports show "The Left Bench" as a guest expert. In my studio debut, I spoke about Logan McNaney and the Terps' strong start to the season in preparation for Maryland's matchup with hated foe Johns Hopkins, nicknamed "The Rivalry."

Maryland men's lacrosse season in review

I returned to "The Left Bench" alongside the other student beat reporter for Maryland men's lacrosse to preview the Terps' tournament chances. I highlighted some opponents and keys to success along the tournament path and talked about players that had impressed for Maryland.

Sideline reporting on WMUC Sports Radio

WMUC Sports Radio wanted me to come on air for Maryland men's basketball's senior day as a sideline reporter as they experimented with having a third person on the broadcast. In my first time on the radio, I contributed insight and delivered semi-planned packages on all of Maryland's seniors, passing headphones back and forth on commercial breaks to deliver information on various Terps in their last home game.

Podcasting for Testudo Talk

After working for the Testudo Times as both a field hockey and men's lacrosse beat writer, I was promoted to deputy editor. Here, my responsibilities are increasing; one of the new things on my plate is the Testudo Talk podcast. I went live from my trunk while parked outside of Gillette Stadium to talk all things Maryland men's lacrosse and make some predictions for our listeners.
